Dental Fillings in Mount Pearl: Why would you need one?
You need a filling when tooth decay has caused a hole (cavity) to form on a tooth surface.
If you don't get a filling, the cavity will get worse or lead to more severe problems, such as bone loss. A cavity left untreated can also lead to an abscess.
You might also need a filling if one of your current fillings needs to be replaced, or if a tooth has cracked or has been damaged.
A bonded filling is appropriate when the cavity to be filled is small and the area is not exposed to a lot of force in the mouth.
If the cavity to be filled is large or if it is on a molar and you grind your teeth, a bonded filling may not be your best option. Our dentists will recommend what filling is best for your smile.

What can I expect after I receive a filling?
Most patients will not notice anything different after the bonded filling is placed.
You will be able to eat and drink normally once the local anesthetic has worn off. If you do notice any discomfort, or sensitivity please contact our office.
